Cameron McDonald

Cameron MacDonald is a seasoned venture capital executive, investment banker, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in corporate finance, capital markets, and business development across multiple industries, including life sciences, aquaculture, and software technology. He currently serves as Director of Ocean Trout Canada Inc., a leading Canadian aquaculture firm focused on sustainable fish farming and seafood innovation.

Mr. MacDonald’s extensive background includes founding and leading Global SeaFarms Group Inc., where he spearheaded aquaculture development projects across the Americas. Prior to this, he was a senior investment banker at Canaccord Adams (now Canaccord Genuity), where he successfully executed over $500 million in public equity financings and M&A transactions on the TSX, TSXV, and AIM exchanges. His work included strategic advisory and capital raises for emerging growth companies in the biotechnology, clean tech, and natural resource sectors.

In addition to his executive leadership, Mr. MacDonald has held influential roles on the boards of numerous public and private companies. He is currently Chairman of Nayad Aquaculture and a Director of Pebl Software Inc., reflecting his cross-sector involvement in sustainability-driven enterprises and digital innovation. He also served as Senior Advisor to Palos Merchant Bank, a private equity fund and exempt market dealer specializing in growth-stage investments.

Mr. MacDonald brings to CanaQuest a unique blend of financial acumen, operational insight, and strategic foresight—supporting the company’s capital formation strategies and long-term value creation in the biopharmaceutical space. His multidisciplinary experience in regulated industries is particularly relevant as CanaQuest advances clinical development of cannabinoid-based therapeutics.

Mr. MacDonald holds an MBA from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Washington State University. He has also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
