John Westlake, Former US Armed Forces Veteran Marketing Advisor, USA

Mr. Westlake is currently the President and Founder of Canopy CBD Farms LLC, an experienced Massachusetts State licensed Industrial Hemp Processor/Manufacturer of Hemp Derived Cannabinoids, and whole hemp plant-based products. John served in the USAF, upon leaving the military, worked in warehouse management, importing/exporting for Frye Boot, Rockport Shoe and Reebok. Worked establishing non-profit child abuse and domestic violence awareness programs for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Association in Vancouver, the Metro Toronto Police Association in Toronto Canada. As an established business entrepreneur, John has helped several Direct Selling and Marketing companies gain, train, and maintain large international independent sales organizations. In an advisory and consultatory role, John has garnered the trust and loyalty of countless businesses in or entering in the cannabis space. This has allowed John to develop a broad-based perspective helping Pharmaceutical, Medical Research, Life Science companies, establish relationships and partnerships, with registered USDA, FDA, EPA, cGMP, GLP processors, manufacturers, and farmers. He is proud of his son Timothy, who has a PhD from Cornell in Botany and just recently graduated Johns Hopkins with an MPH.

Dr. Tom Ng BioPharma Global

Dr. Tom Ng has 20 years of biotech experience on both the science and business side of the industry. He currently functions as the Chief Operating Officer and is a key member of the management team at BioPharma Global. In his current role, he is responsible for leading client development and operations activities on a worldwide basis.
Prior to joining BPG, he has held management level positions including R&D, Program/Project Management, Alliance/Channel Management, Marketing & Sales and Business Development, on a both national and international basis while working at various biotechnology companies along the I-270 tech corridor of Maryland, including Celera, Gene Logic and BioReliance. He more recently worked in the preclinical services arena with Noble Life Sciences and Epistem.
Dr. Ng’s academic background includes a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University. He is also an Executive Board Member and President Emeritus of the CMNS Alumni Association Chapter at the University of Maryland.

Mark Goldberg (Phd in Pharmacology)

Over 25 years of experience in biomedical research and as a regulatory consultant. Currently serves on PlantForm Corporation’s Board of directors, a biopharma start-­‐up that he founded. Is also a director of MedCannAccess and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Innovation Guelph. did his postdoctoral work in biochemical and genetic toxicology at the Ontario Cancer Institute. Joined the department of Biomedical Sciences at the Ontario Veterinary College of the University of Guelph in 1982, and was a tenured faculty member until 1994. Was awarded the University of Guelph’s Forster Fellowship, given annually to the University’s top researcher in 1987. Is the author of more than 50 scientific publications, primarily in the cancer research field. Was co-­‐founder of GlobalTox International Consultants, a toxicology and regulatory affairs firm and serves as its President and CEO for 17 years. Is board-­‐certified by the American Board of Toxicology. Received the Chartered directors (C.Dir.) designation from The directors College.

Graeme G. Phipps (B.Sc.) Oil Industry Expert

Over 30 years of oil & gas operational and management experience with Exxon, CanOxy/Nexen and Petro Canada. In 2005, he was Executive V P of PetroKazakhstan and was preparing to become President and CEO when it was successfully sold for US$4.2 billion to China National Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Phipps is a director of several public and private international oil & gas companies. He has extensive experience with financial transactions and investment banking.

Dr. Kirsten Muller (Phd) Lead Psychologist

Dr Muller has over 10 years’ experience researching and cultivating algae. Currently Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo and Associate Director of the Canadian Phycology Culture Centre (CPCC), which is housed within her laboratory at the University of Waterloo (500 species). Has authored over 25 papers in leading phycology journals and has received many national and international research awards. Dr. Muller recently won The Luigi Provasoli Award in recognition of authoring the outstanding paper published in the Journal of Phycology (Phycological Society of America) during 2011.

Dr. Brendan McConkey (Phd) Algae Oil Analysis

Dr. McConkey has over 7 years research experience as Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo. His areas of expertise include proteomics, biochemistry, toxicology, and computational biology. Research emphasis has been on interdisciplinary approaches that combine biology, chemical engineering, and computational research.
